Just before the students are thrown into the woods, Weiss decides to meet with Pyrrha Nikos, a famous athletic girl who is featured on the box of a popular cereal brand. While Weiss is definitely committed to the task, she wants to be able to pick her own teammates, which goes against one of the exam's rules of teaming up with the first person they encounter in the woods. While it may seem cruel for RWBY: Ice Queendom to subject kids and teenagers to a life-threatening exam as part of their school application, they must be able to survive dangerous situations if they are serious about becoming future Hunters - a dangerous profession in its own right.
Part of the exam entails being able to survive their environment, which means they will have to fight any Grimm they encounter in the woods. Ozpin and a Huntress explain that the prospective students will be tossed into the Emerald Forest with the task of collecting a relic artifact from the ruins of an old temple. On their way to the entrance exam in Episode 2, Beacon professor Mr. Of the three, Blake is the student whose life is most strongly impacted by the Schnee family as the latter has a history of exploiting the labor of her people and has abused the Faunus in other capacities.
Some of the people she encounters include Ruby Rose, her sister Yang Xiao Long, and Blake Belladonna, a Faunus. When Weiss decides to enroll at the Beacon Academy to become a Huntress, she finds herself surrounded by commoners who don't have a high opinion of her family or their business. As the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, Weiss Schnee is born into a world of privilege and is used to getting too much her own way. As the most valuable resource on Remnant, it's not surprising that a wealthy family has turned it into a profitable product: the Schnee family. Ruby, who is distracted by the sudden burst of flames, is hit by the Beowolf she attacked and knocked into Weiss.Īfter a quick argument, the girls prepare to face off against the pack of Grimm once more however, they are suddenly forced to stop due to the fact that the fire from Weiss' diverted strike has spread, causing several burning trees to fall. Hastily diverting her strike, Weiss ends up sending a wave of fire in a random direction, setting a tree on fire. Much to her surprise, Ruby suddenly appears right in front of her and strikes the creature with Crescent Rose before Weiss can reach the Beowolf, and the large Beowolf puts its arms up to block Ruby's strike. She then dashes forward, aiming to kill a Beowolf that is much larger than the others, directly in front of her. Gathering her thoughts and mentally rehearsing her training, Weiss assumes her combat stance and sets Myrtenaster's revolver to the red Dust slot. The scene opens up with Weiss using Myrtenaster to block a strike from a Beowolf's claw, with the force of the blow causing her to slide backwards a good distance. After landing in the forest and joining up with Ruby for initiation, Weiss is soon separated from her teammate and is subsequently approached by Beowolves that emerge from the bushes around her.
